Who Is Nigel Dearden?

Nigel T. Dearden is a British chartered civil & structural engineer based in Hong Kong with over 25 years of experience in infrastructure development across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. A graduate of the University of Bradford (BEng Civil & Structural Engineering), he has worked on major infrastructure projects spanning bridges, tunnels, highways, and urban development.

In November 2025, he began a solo experiment: could one person, working with AI, map the entire history of human infrastructure and the consciousness that built it? Not as an academic exercise, but as a living, real-time proof of concept. The answer, 128 days later, is Principia Tectonica — a framework that is still running, still growing, still being written as you read this.

The Brunel connection is not accidental. Isambard Kingdom Brunel — the greatest civil engineer in history — built the Great Western Railway, the SS Great Britain, and the Clifton Suspension Bridge. He did not just build infrastructure; he reimagined what infrastructure could be. Principia Tectonica is the 21st-century continuation of that lineage: from iron and steam to consciousness and data. The engineer’s instinct — to build, to connect, to make things work — is the same instinct that drives the iAAi framework.
